National Chair: THIS IS STILL AMERICA
September 27, 2016
Last time I checked, we still have a President, democracy and pledge allegiance to the United States of America. And, no, we don’t live in Saudi Arabia.
Response to the President’s Veto Message
September 26, 2o16
Late in the day on Friday, September 23rd, President Obama vetoed the Justice Against Sponsors of Terrorism Act (JASTA), a bill that was passed unanimously by the Senate and by the House of Representatives without a single objection. Given the measure’s unanimous passage by both the Senate and House, and following nearly seven years of careful deliberation and refinement and multiple hearings in both chambers, the President needed to make a particularly compelling showing to justify vetoing the bill. He did not make any such showing.
Regarding President Obama’s veto of JASTA
September 23, 2016, 4:35 PM EDT
We are outraged and dismayed at the President’s veto of JASTA and the unconvincing and unsupportable reasons that he offers as explanation. No matter how much the Saudi lobbying and propaganda machine may argue otherwise, JASTA is a narrowly drawn statute that restores longstanding legal principles that have enjoyed bipartisan support for decades. It will deter terrorism and hold accountable those nations that support and fund it.
Thank You Senators Blumenthal and McConnell
September 21, 2016, 9:00 PM EDT
Dozens of 9/11 family members and survivors protested outside the White House yesterday, calling for President Obama to sign the Justice Against Sponsors of Terrorism Act (JASTA), a bill that he has threatened to veto. Following the protest, the 9/11 Families & Survivors United for Justice Against Terrorism held a press conference on the Senate lawn, with Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-CT).
Please continue making these calls:
TAKE ACTION: Urge Leadership to maintain their unanimous commitment and override the veto:
Paul Ryan: (202) 225-3031 (press #6)
Senate Majority Leader:
Mitch McConnell: (202) 224-2541
Senate Minority Leader:
Harry Reid: (202) 224-3542.
Pass the Justice Against Sponsors of Terrorism Act!
The Justice Against Sponsors of Terrorism Act – “JASTA” is a bill passed unanimously by both chambers of Congress that will prevent international terrorism and guarantee Americans their rights to go to federal court and hold foreign states accountable for funding and supporting terrorist acts on U.S. soil. This legislation has the full support of the 9,000 family members and survivors of the September 11 Attacks who are now seeking truth, accountability, and justice against all who supported and perpetrated that murderous attack 15 years ago. JASTA passed the Senate unanimously on May 17, 2016 and passed the U.S. House of Representatives unanimously on September 9, 2016.

Radical Islam is an ideology that is fueled by MONEY. We CAN diminish the amount of funding terrorists receive from their wealthy paymasters in the Gulf region by enacting JASTA. Without money terrorists cannot travel, forge passports, recruit, operate their training camps, websites, and purchase bomb-making materials. Without money, terrorists cannot kill Americans.
The 19 terrorists who hijacked 4 commercial airliners on September 11, 2001 in the worst terrorist attack on American soil did not act alone. Evidence proves agents of the Saudi Arabian government gave financial and logistical support to the terrorists while they were here in America.
JASTA is a bipartisan bill that will amend the Foreign Sovereign Immunities Act (FSIA) and prevent accused foreign sponsors of terrorism from invoking sovereign immunity in cases involving terrorist acts occurring in the United States. JASTA firmly places the American judiciary in the battle against terrorism. JASTA WILL ALLOW VICTIMS OF TERRORISM TO SEEK JUSTICE – ONE OF OUR MOST CHERISHED AMERICAN VALUES.

“The SAUDIS KNOW what they did…the SAUDIS KNOW THAT WE KNOW what they did…” – stated former Florida Senator Bob Graham, Chairman of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence 2001-2003 and co-chair of the “Joint Congressional Committee into Intelligence Activities Before and After the Terrorist Attacks of September 11, 2001” at a press conference on Capitol Hill, January 7, 2015. In sworn testimony regarding Saudi Arabia’s connection to 9/11 Graham states: “there was a direct line between some Sept. 11 terrorists and the government of Saudi Arabia…”. John Lehman, a former Navy secretary, and one of the 9/11 Commissioners explains close historical ties between the Kingdom’s government clerics and al Qaeda in sworn testimony in support of plaintiff’s opposition to motion to dismiss the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. (testimonies can be read in full in Sworn Testimony tab).
If we do not hold the individuals, organizations, and countries responsible for the role they play in financing terrorism, how will we prevent future generations from turning to violent Jihadism when the influence of their clerics and culture remain intact?
